November - the end of the birthday month

Image
Mon 21st.    Was a bit late getting up today - and then did some stuff on the computer after breakfast  and had a chat with Emma - so it was after 10 am when I got out with Suki. Got back just as the rain was starting. Went to Tesco later and got some milk and a tin of Tripe Mix for Suki to try.  She absolutely loved it - and even wolfed it down with her pills in it.  I was very pleased to have found some proper dog food that she likes - and am hoping I can get her back to eating two small meals in the morning and evening again.  I had been putting the dry food down in the morning and leaving it down and she had taken to grazing through the day on it which made her other end a bit unpredictable!  I caught up with a couple of blogs in the afternoton.  It was very cold and miserable for the afternoon walk with Suki.  Went to Guys in the evening for a handbell peal attempt of Lincolnshire with James, Caroline and Ian which was once again unsucce...

November - more birthdays and dinner with Adrian!

Wed 9th - went over to see Keith, went to Sainsbury for him and then sorted out his computer. In the evening went to Goldsmiths for the first Messiah rehearsal.  It was nice to see Trish again - we had communicated beforehand by email this time so we were primed to save each other a seat, but in the end we were both early and met up in the coffee area beforehand.  Mike and I had a very quick and trouble-free bus journey which made a nice change.  It was great to be singing it again - especially And The Glory.  Simon and Ian were there with a friend from Saddleworth days who was an alto, so we took her under our wing for the evening - she was only around for a week's holiday so would not be coming again.  We stopped off for a kebab on the way home - I just got doner meat and salad but I couldn't finish it and it laid heavily on my stomach all night. Thurs 10th - went walking with Maryanne.  Mike went off to work at 7 am so I had plenty of time thereafter...

November - the birthday month - mine

How can it be November already!  I just don't know where the time goes.  My 64th birthday is looming - how did that happen?? Tues 1st.  Determined that all my efforts now will be to get the house straight and catch up with the admin etc.  Feel things are slightly out of control at the moment. Mike went to work - I went out of the house with him at 7.10 so had walked Suki and was back home raring to go at 8.30 am.  I tackled the Organ music today - and succeeded in cataloguing all of it and putting it away in the filing cabinet drawer.  It all fitted in one drawer and I printed off an index for the drawer.  Very satisfying.  Had some lunch and took Suki out - I need to make sure I get out earlier in the afternoon now that the clocks have gone back.  When I got in I tackled the ironing - I was still at it when Mike came in from work.  I finished it all, including all the bedding etc from the guest room which had been languishing in the ...

Back in London-the project continues

Wednesday 26th. Slept surprisingly well albeit with periods of wakefulness. Got up and made Mikes breakfast and then took Sookie for a walk. Went to see Keith and went to Sainsbury's for him full stop we were going to go to the village for a haircut but he didn't feel like it. Shame as the weather was jolly good and may not be good enough next week. Lorraine phoned me to talk about her job and we both felt much better about her accepting the alternative offer which she had not been happy about before. Got home nice and early full stop that there was still there so had a chat with her. She has started cleaning the radiators with the new radiator dusters. Heated up the stir fry I made in Devon for Mike's lunch. Quick cup of tea and made him some cheese sandwiches for the flight and the sandwich and a taxi pick him up at 3 p.m. to take him to Stansted. I ordered clothes airer for Keith. Change the bedding on Mike's bed and tried out the new sheets which were fine. Talk to...

Devon - all change here too!

I had been looking forward to  week in Devon to catch up on sleep and to recharge my batteries.  Well it started off like that ........ Mon 17th .  Slept until 9am - bliss!  The peace and quiet was wonderful.  It was a beautiful morning - clear and crisp with bright sunshine.  After breakfast Suki and I headed up to the moor and went for a walk - the Black Hill circuit from the small car park.  We called in to see Mary on the way back - she was well and had got new hearing aids and certainly seemed to be able to hear much  better than before.  In the afternoon I took things to the charity shop - jigaws and blankets to the Animals in Distress, then fur coat, hand made italian shoes which Mike has never worn, and wedding dress (yes wedding dress!!!!) to Rowcroft hospice, signing Gift Aid forms for both.  Took my craft floor lamp to Arnolds to get the fixing mended, and went to the butchers and greengrocers to get some meat and healthy...
