July - holidays and more

We had three holidays in July - for which there are separate posts:

Visit to Leipzig with Bristol Choral Society
Barnes Ringers Summer Trip
Roving Ringers

Lee and Emma came up to stay in the house and look after Suki - who missed us dreadfully!

Found time to enjoy Wimbledon fortnight - made myself sit and watch it in the afternoons as it was something I had always wanted to do when I was at work and couldn't!  Ignored that feeling that I should be doing something more useful than watching TV in the afternoons.  The weather continued to be hot and sunny for most of the month, and the all time record high of 38.5 was reached on 25th. The nights were warm too and we had both fans going all night at times.

Monica and I went to the Chiswick Choir Concert in St John's Smith Square.  Carmina Burana plus an award winning youth choir.  It was done without a full orchestra, just a lot of percussion and two pianos which still seemed very effective.  It was a very hot evening, and I could have done without the travelling on the tube, but the concert itself was very good although apart from the opening chorus it is a bit strange and at times tedious.  Mike went and sang it again the next day with another choir.

Another nice supper with Pru and Caroline.  Caroline decided to pull the plug on the handbell attempts at Guys as nothing had been organised for so long, so we have decided to meet once a month for supper in future.  I had booked a table by the window at Cafe Rouge but they failed to reserve it.  However we did manage to get a table outside eventually which was pleasant.  They were very slow and got our order wrong (and then tried to bill us for it) so we were not much impressed.

Walking

Another go at the Hambledon walk with Maryanne and Kath.  We got it right this time. Suki was attacked by a rottweiler and 2 other large dogs. I thought no damage had been done but a few days later discovered a large bite on her neck. She was very stressed by it all. I had the burger again in the pub.

Family

Lorraine took Ollie to the pictures to see Toy Story 4 (in the recliner seats!) and the new Spiderman movie

Ollie had his school carnival

Ollie and Aidan had their school photos

All the kids had fun with photos on Snapchat

Leanne and family went on holiday for a week in Clacton in a caravan - a huge one (they were upgraded)
