Another lovely sunny day. Out on the moor by 8.30 and spent 2 hours starting on saddle tor over to hay tor round by the quarry then over to hound tor path and back round trying to find lower footpath. Went to Exeter at lunchtime via cardboard recycling and scored qp of Norwich surprise royal. Several starts and it was ropey in places but first surprise royal in hand for most of the band including me so still an achievement. Basked in the sun on the patio for a couple of hours when I got back then went for amble round parke. Amazing how the river has gone right down. Where Lorraine and I were paddling in wellies is now a vast beach. Suki enjoyed playing in the river again. In the evening grappled with setting up the old Dell latitude (s) I have acquired. Very time consuming. Got there eventually. Nothing on tv so read book and had early night - as did suki!
17 - 24th August 2018 Butlin's Bognor Regis Two 2-bedroomed "Seaside" apartments John, Carolyn, Me, Lorraine, Amanda, Leanne, Ollie, Bethany, Harrison, Aidan Photos I drove down to Bognor in the morning and arrived about 1 pm. I got myself a sandwich and a coffee in the pavilion (and watched the Teletubbies show!) and then I walked to the station to meet the train with John, Carolyn, Leanne, Ollie and Aidan on board. They weren't expecting me - and it was such a nice surprise we decided to go and meet the later train with the Majorca contingent on board. Waiting at the station for the train We had a lovely week doing all the usual things - it was nice for us all to be together again and spend some time together. I tried to keep my step total up each day - and found pushing a pram to put either Aidan or Harrison (or both!) to sleep was a useful way of doing this. I also walked into Bognor almost every day! I also spent a lot of time at the ...
We set off for Devon and became concerned by the gantries stating that there was a 3-hour delay at J 16 of the M4. We kept going and the signs didn't change - so we used Google maps on my phone to find an alternative route. It was really good - it didn't follow the official diversion (which was queuing from the motorway) but took us along roads which ran parallel to the motorway - bringing us back on at J18. We only took about 40 mins longer and got to Bovey at 1.30 - giving us 15 mins for a cup of tea before our meeting with the vicar at 2. The meeting didn't last long - everything for the funeral seemed to be in hand, even the refreshments which were being organised by the Mothers Union. Then we both took Suki for a walk in Stover before popping up to Tracey House for Mary's handbag and a few bits. The next day was a busy one. We had a 9.30 appointment with the Registrar in Newton Abbot to register the death, then we went to the funeral directors an...
I drove down to Bovey on Sunday 13th - leaving after church and bellringing, and arriving about 3 pm. It was great to be there again and I relished the thought of a few days on my own doing my own thing. The house was absolutely boiling inside, with the radiators all pumping out heat, even though the thermostat was set at 10 degrees - which was the equivalent of the outside temperature that day. I couldn't make it click at any setting - although once I had turned the heating off for a while and then turned it on again in the evening it seemed to work ok for the rest of the week (typical). The first thing I did was to install the new bedside cabinets I had bought - they looked great. I even lined the drawers - and it was a good opportunity to sort the drawers out too. Then I put the new bedding on which Jayne had given me for my birthday in 2017! It was pretty and lovely and soft to the touch Suki loved the new bedding so much she wouldn't get up the ...
